Six-Story Vertical Garden In Spain

The six-story vertical garden in the photo above is located in the town square of San Vicente del Raspeig  in the southeast of Spain. Designed by architect Jose Maria Chofre, it has been installed on the facade of a new children's library.

Consisting of a metal frame structure built on a dividing wall between the library and an existing apartment building, the plants have been inserted into the frame between two metal grids using synthetic felted material. Various types of plants have been used - one type per square. A suspended scaffold hanging from the front allows plants to be pruned or replaced.
