Dig Toilets Not Graves

This is the campaign from WaterAid. The shocking statistic is that 4,000 children die every day from diarrhoea - more than AIDS, malaria and measles put together! That’s 3 children every minute of every day.

These children die because they don’t have proper toilets, so many have to defecate wherever they can and faeces contaminates everything they touch, eat and drink, causing deadly diarrhoeal diseases.

The simple solution is to dig safe pit toilets which last for years, saving lives day after day. Please visit here to get more information and find out how you can help. WaterAid have stated that over one year £3 a month could pay for a pit toilet to help keep children safe; £5 a month could train a mason to build toilets and £10 a month could train a community group to manage the new toilet and water facilities.

This is one of those causes that definitely need more attention. The solution is so simple but needs funds and a lot of action. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Vera - I find it shocking that so many children are losing their lives with something that can be solved so simply in this day and age.
