Emergency Blankets Made From Recycled Bottles

Volunteers at the Taiwanese recycling center of the Tzu Chi Foundation are transforming discarded plastic bottles into soft blue polyester blankets.

Recycling has evolved into a venerable practice in this part of the world. You could see people submitting willingly to some most rigorous recycling rules here. Just recently the mostly retired volunteers at Tzu Chi fabricated 60,000 blankets while disintegrating plastic into crumbs and later donating it to the survivors of Typhoon Morakot.

How very cool. I did not know that plastic could be transformed in such a way.
