World Habitat Day 2009

The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. This year that falls on October 5.

The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. The Day is intended to
reaffirm that adequate shelter is a basic human right and to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.

If you would like to get involved, you can visit the World Habitat Day page at Habitat For Humanity where there is information about how you can help, including a Photo Petition.

Watch this short video message from the UN.
